In today’s discussion we look at the legality of raising money through token launches, the potential risks involved, and approaches to improving the safety of these new bearer assets. We also examine the term ICO in depth and find that terminology, while relevant is second to the nature of the offer and state of the project involved. Following the discussion is an interview With Peter Van Vaulkenburg recorded at Devcon 2, applying the Howy test to TheDAO.

Sandra Malalah is a new crypto enthusiast producing original content on YouTube. Her high energy and level of excitement for the Blockchain technology and the future it brings. She's very worldly and with that perspective her vision of financial liquidity is unique. Personally I'm a spoiled hermit American with practically zero money transfer/ storage woes, so to expand my horizons I've invited Sandra onto my show to a simple conversation between two crypto Blockchain fintech nerd money enthusiasts. Thanks for listening, many more, more juicy, chit chats to come.

On this episode of BlockChannel, McKie, Dee, and Dr. Petty are joined by Dan Finlay from the Metamask team. Metamask is a chrome extension that enables you to access a variety of different ethereum related tokens in order to transact and interact with the web — with the additional capabilities of interfacing with the Ethereum public chain. Their plugin and service has exploded in popularity, and developers are using it to embed Ethereum related functionality into traditional webpages. These sorts of services are pivotal in bringing more adoption in the crypto space by simplifying interacting with these new complex networks of trust online; thankfully we picked Dan’s head accordingly and got the scoop on their vision and background. We also discuss ICOs, and potential alternative methods for raising that may be coming around the corner in the future to alleviate congestion on the network.

Shortly after Ethereum launched, Taylor built MyEtherWallet.com with her partner because she wasn't confident with command-line. MyEtherWallet is a “do-it-yourself-&-secure-it-yourself” FREE Ethereum wallet that is extremely easy to use. So obviously, we gots ta talk about it. ICO Woes included. Also we talk about Tropic Thunder, and who can sing R&B better. It gets serious.

What?! Another Erik Voorhees podcast?!!!

In this, the sixty seventh episode of The Ether Review, we set out to understand Prism, Shapeshift’s new non-custodial synthetic asset built on the Ethereum network. In reviewing this episode I feel I was unsuccessful in achieving this. However, the peripheral conversation about Erik’s view of the space is extremely enlightening, especially writ large in his positioning of Shapeshift. The Bitcoin scaling debate, the future of digital assets, the financial world’s response — it’s all here.

Some of this interview was geared to fit Shapeshift’s messaging, not something you’ll hear on TER very often. None the less, it’s fun to hear such an astute thinker and communicator knock some soft ball questions out of the park.

This week the boys welcome back to the show and interview Erik Voorhees of the instant, trustless cryptocurrency exchange ShapeShift.io about their new venture, Prism, which is a trustless means of holding multiple assets via ShapeShift.io and its own Ethereum token. Also we talk about how a person brand new to crypto, how easy the process really is. Spoiler alert: It's not. Are there any real world solutions? Also we slam Ethereum Chamber scamming everyone and we talk about Sean Paul's (remember him?) accent during breakfast.

OK, here we are in June 2017 and it is TIME to start rethinking identity on the internet. The internet was built on principles of openness, freedom and decentralization, but the current configuration frequently falls short of these standards. Now, there is an open-source project is trying to address some of the fundamental problems with the modern web. This week we are ALL about snagging Muneeb Ali to chat about the freshly announced Blockstack browser, which changes the dynamic and brings the power back to the people.
