On this episode of BlockChannel, McKie and Dr. Petty sit down with Boyma Fahnbulleh and Dan Robinson from Chain.com. The two of them worked together to create the Ivy smart contracting language built atop the bitcoin scripting system (shoutout to bcoin.io). Boyma also assisted with the buildout and design of the Ivy smart contract playground as well. Individuals can use the Ivy smart contract high-level language to create contracts using bitcoin scripts; creating a specific, more human-readable version of bitcoin scripts by appending a high level language like Ivy has many implications for both simplifying bitcoin contract development, and for making it easier to educate engineers on how bitcoin scripts actually work (reading C++ all day can be very taxing). Dan doesn’t love Bitcoin Cash though; but that’s okay he’ll come around one day, you know engineers — they’re stubborn.

With billions of dollars literally created out of thin air, there’s a lot of fraudsters out there concocting up get-rich-quick schemes around cryptocurrency. Businesses aren’t going to accept Bitcoin until they can confidently protect themselves against fraud. And that comes down to the Point-of-Sale. QuHarrison Terry is here joining us to talk about these things! He is the marketing director at Redox, the company providing a modern API for healthcare. In addition, as a futurist, growth hacker, technology obsessed individual, he gives us the lowdown from CES 2018, the Global Stage for Innovation! What was hot? What was not? The possibilities for innovation, revenue generation and positive social impact are limitless!

This week we take a look at the Solve.Care platform which can improve health outcomes through effective care coordination while empowering the consumer to effectively manage their healthcare decisions. We return home from Miami while we attended the North American Bitcoin Conference where we saw Solve.Care give a great speech and we continue to question ourselves about how exactly can we make access to the best healthcare an inherent right and not a privilege?

How does a governance project think about governance?

I wanted to talk to Aragon because long-term governance is one of the long-term challenges that we haven’t yet solved but need to in order to achieve the web3 vision of decentralizing the internet.

Join us to hear more about their new grants program, Aragon Nest as well as how they continue to think about how they are in the process of transforming their DAO-producing organization into a DAO.

On this episode of BlockChannel, McKie, Petty and Demetrick finally sit down with our first female guest on the show, Kristen Stone from Coinbase. Don’t judge us, we’re gonna ensure she’s not the last, not to worry. Kristen took time in her busy day working hard behind the scenes to help build and scale Coinbase, to discuss with us her past, insights on Coinbase’s day-to-day culture, and how our rapidly evolving industry can work to empower, involve, and create an inviting environment for more brilliant women such as herself. It’s a very enlightening episode into what it’s like at Coinbase, as well as how we all can be advocates to create a more diverse mind-share as we all continue to scale socially.

Today we talk with Fred Dionne from DubDub. As the web becomes increasingly cluttered with out of touch content, invalid traffic and pointless attention based metrics, advertisers, content creators and publishers struggle to find the proper way to reach consumers. Sensory and content overload make it almost impossible to captivate and monetize audiences looking for targeted experiences.

The IVEP’s economy will be tokenized and centered around dubtokens. A dubtoken is a multi-faceted unit of account offered to members of the IVEP Crypto Association with various utility, consumptive, trust, governance, transfer, growth incentive and loyalty attributes. Its holder has the right and limited license to use the IVEP protocol together with the underlying services offered by the community through a newly introduced decentralized application store (dApp Store).

Enjoy!

Happy New Year, folks! Let's talk about Marketing in 2018 - lots of topics in this episode as Jeremy Epstein joins us. For example, we talk a bit about what Bitcoin Cash needs to do to increase their marketing efforts. Branding: you need to convince people that a "new product" (Bcash) is worth more than 9 years old recognized one (Bitcoin). There's coins that are cheaper and faster than both the Bitcoin and BCH and didn't succeeded in this mission after years; Branding is an issue. That's why it's going to take promotion and demand from users. All this and more!

Richard Jacobs is no stranger to the show. However, we take a moment to really examine what it takes to put on a crypto conference. I mean, think about it -- conferences continue to be the premier international forum for research, advanced development, education, exploration, and debate regarding security in the context of finance and commerce. So how do you put one on? We also discuss crypto tax and what it costs to be poor & unbanked. Meaningfully. That's right, let's look at a reloadable debit card fee structure and imagine that coming out of a $250 a week paycheck. Yikes. Last episode of 2017 ya'll. Let's do this.

Happy Holidays everyone! Trust in news media is at a global, all time low. And democracy is failing because of it. Over the past 10 years, many solutions have been promoted to solve the news crisis, but so far all have failed. PressCoin is the first solution designed to grow organically, and find a cure to the disease killing the global news industry. We invite Mr Amit Rathore to talk in depth about these topics and more. Elais, also joins in on the roundtable discussion.

On this episode of BlockChannel, Mckie and Petty sit down with John Pacific and Michael Egorov of the NuCypher project to learn more about their upcoming protocol token for encryption services. Their platform enables users to create key-based authentication to create permissioned access to platforms and services that are created by other DApp developers by utilizing Ethereum smart contracts. Think of it like Keybase…but for enterprise and developers looking to more easily shield and protect their personal data. It’s a great project with a lot of potential and these guys really know their stuff — so we dove in to get to the bottom of their vision.

What does half a trillion dollars of cryptocurrency mean? We've been saying for months now, that 2018 will be the year institutional money starts flooding the Crypto market. It's the next phase of the "bubble" forming patter. Like in the internet boom of the late 90's, we first saw early adopters, institutional money, and finally mass populous adoption and then the bubble burst. We're still very early, straddling the early adopter/institutional money phase. Also Preethi Kasireddy says goodbye to Silicon Valley and says hello to L.A. She has a passion for understanding things at a fundamental level and sharing it as clearly as possible. Oh, and Daniel Baker, fan of the show joins us on the roundtable. Lotta fun!

Welcome to a special CROSS EPISODE where this week Monero Monitor does a guest episode on our network. In July 2016, an unknown developer going by the name "Tom Elvis Jedusor" dropped a link to a Tor hidden service on the bitcoin-wizards IRC channel. In it, he revealed a new protocol dubbed "Mimblewimble" after the tongue-tying curse in Harry Potter, because "it is used to prevent the blockchain from talking about all user's information".

In the time since, multiple researchers and developers have continued to flesh out and build on Jedusor's innovation, in many respects led by Andrew Poelstra, a Bitcoin developer and mathematician at Blockstream.

This deep dive with Andrew covers the technical details of Mimblewimble's scaling and privacy-enhancing features, discusses the real world logistics of using the protocol, and looks at some of the coolest features enabled by the technology. We discuss how Bulletproofs can help both Mimblewimble and Monero better scale, and also touch on how ValueShuffle might further improve privacy in Mimblewimble.

How can projects like Gitcoin and Bounties Network help shape the evolving nature of work? The internet and sharing economy has changed many things about how we think about work. Now imagine what the next generation of work platforms built on Ethereum could do.

We talk about why Mark and Kevin chose to work on similar projects, how they collaborate, and the breadth vs depth differences between incentivizing open source software projects (Gitcoin) vs open-ended work platform (Bounties Network).

The previous institutional stealth projects are coming out of light now-a-days. Bank of America may be looking into cryptocurrency exchange services for its corporate clients – or at least keeping its options open should they become interested. In addition, Giveth – a favorite of the podcast team here – are bringing community, transparency and accountability to charitable donations and strongly innovating in a much needed space. Griff Green stops by to chat about a variety of things and what is on the horizon.
