Devcon3 is a wrap! We successfully avoided Corrupted cops, locals & crypto gangs. Instead we had dinner and rubbed shoulders with the best of them. We drunk plenty of alcohol (after all, we ARE in Cancun), and learned a lot. Again, here are our takeaways, but this time from the last two days of Devcon3 as we provide you our recap part 2. Which talks you should watch/attend and/or miss? Who lived up to expectations and who disappointed?...and most importantly, which announcements were game changing. For everyone that met up with us from our slack, and who recognized us from Twitter -- we thank you! We will see you next year!

The first day of Devcon3 has come to an end and there’s a lot to be processed. Before we head into the second day of Ethereum’s conference in Cancún, Mexico, here are our takeaways from yesterday and today. We recap which talks you should watch/attend and/or miss. Who lived up to expectations and who disappointed...and most importantly, which announcements were game changing. Finally, there were also some hints for other improvements to the Ethereum platform that might be coming in the future. These include planned upgrades to the Ethereum virtual machine (EVM), eWASM, which enables Ethereum to run in a web browser, and so-called “stateless clients”, a proposal for how clients could sync with the network more quickly. We anticipate hearing much more about these in the coming days at Devcon3. Listen now, and wait until the end of the conference for part 2. Like DMX, we gon' give it to ya.

Today we talk with Kat Kuzmeskas from SimplyVital Health. SimplyVital Health is powered by Health Nexus, its blockchain ecosystem. In an effort to improve the switch to value-based care, it effectively makes use of blockchain to connect providers regardless of their clinical affiliation. The startup’s ConnectingCare tool also harnesses blockchain to track clients’ financials, monitor analytics and maintain static records generating information about our surroundings and behaviour.

**Health Nexus is a blockchain-oriented distributed system handling data transfer,
payments, and storage specifically designed for Health Care. Because of the sensitive nature and requirements of healthcare, existing blockchain distributed systems are not adequate for healthcare. The goal of Health Nexus is to create a blockchain system that can pass the stringent requirements of healthcare by ensuring better data integrity, encryption, and by providing a validation system to ensure the miners running this network are compliant entities. Health Nexus uses a Distributed Hash Table combined with an Ethereum base Blockchain to provide, among many other features, an ability for frictionless data sharing and access to new revenue streams. This is accomplished via an upgrade to data integrity and security system and the addition of an executive governance system for node validation.

This excerpt is from the whitepaper which can be found on the token sale link.

Our very own Kenn Bosak was hacked...so I asked him to stop by and help us learn some lessons together. When you are in crypto, digital security should always be on the forefront of your mind. With this episode we aim to reestablish that fact.

After 2008, Greece, Cyprus, Venezuela, Brexit and more, people are worried about their paper based money sitting in a bank and not even earning interest. Vaultoro Is the first company in the world to offer its client a real-time Debit card and internet banking functionality using gold and without the need of a bank.  It was around this time we had Joshua Scigala on our show the first time. You see, Vaultoro.com, is the first and longest running bitcoin / allocated gold exchange and recently they just closed funding round with one of fintech’s largest investors. I'm talking six figures holmes. TThe investment from FinLab AG into Vaultoro will enable them to scale fast. After all, their mission is to enable as many people as possible to secure their savings in assets away from the banking system before another major currency crisis. Yeah, we can dig it.

Drawing upon his decades of experience in the cryptocurrency, technology, and financial services spaces, Gupta will advise the project in a number of strategic areas, including blockchain technology and business development. Gupta is best known for his work on the Ethereum blockchain, where he managed the initial launch of the project. Ozzy "The BS Filter" is personally one of my favorite YouTubers in the crypto limelight. He has no chill and tends to go off on tangent rants like an angry old man. But, that's just Ozzy's gimmick. Talking smack is what Ozzy is best at. So, if you're not on the straight and narrow Ozzy will let you know! This man gets crypto and understands the impact yet to be felt by its technology. In this interview Ozzy blesses me with many knowledge bombs as well as personal advice. When Ozzy talks, I listen...

On this episode of BlockChannel, McKie and Petty sit down with the founders of Cent.co, Max Brody and Cameron Hejazi. Cent, presently, is a Quora-like Q&A platform built on the Ethereum blockchain. Their service allows you to post questions with monetary bounties via Ethereum smart-contracts. By being a member of Cent, you can then answer questions, and in return received Ether for your valuable insights/contributions. Members of the site then vote on the various answers posted to each question bounty, and depending on your overall number of votes, you’ll receive a proportional share of the bounty. It’s a very straight-forward and simple platform that allows anyone to quickly start earning ETH with just a few clicks. Full disclosure: McKie is also an advisor for the Cent team.

JP Richardson is the Chief Technical Officer of Exodus Wallet, which is quickly becoming my fav- next to Jaxx of course. In this interview JP and I shoot the shit and talk about his new Desktop wallet application Exodus. Don't get me wrong Exodus is a nice wallet, but I did have a few dislikes and JP heard em out. Some of the things I didn't agree with, most of them I understood the stance. Exodus is a noob in the space as far as the product, but the exp behind the wallet is extremely lengthy. When it comes to being your own bank, Exodus makes you the exchange as well. Buy, Trade, HODL!!!

After initially showing Nathan Bitcoin in 2013...4 years later, not only has Nathan purchased, but his curiosity is almost more than his reservation for Bitcoin. He's appreciated the gains in his money pots, but yearns to take nibbles of all that is crypto and learn about this paradigm shifting platform. Enjoy...this is a jazzy talk!

Explaining compatibility between the Segwit activation of the current Segwit2X code and BIP 148 UASF is the meat of this weeks episode, so if this isn't your bag, or you're NOT curious, well... As of August 1st (and if Segwit is not already either locked-in or activated) nodes that run BIP 148 will not accept any blocks that don’t signal Segwit. There is a chance Bitcoin will experience a chain-split on August 1st. The bad news is that this coin-split can be messy and risky. And if you’re not careful, you could lose funds. This episode will provide you with the basics to keeping your funds safe during the UASF and will help to make sure you make it to the “other side” with all your bitcoins intact with a little help from our guest Aaron van Wirdum from Bitcoin Magazine.

One of the world's more recognizable bitcoin miners, David Carlson gained global attention for his multimillion-dollar mining venture MegaBigPower during the bitcoin boom of 2014. It took us awhile, but he is finally on our show to chat in this seemingly ever-expanding market, about launching a new venture called Giga Watt. Giga Watt provides turnkey mining services and custom packages tailored to clients’ needs: full range of mining services from equipment sales, maintenance and repair to private blockchain servicing.  In this way, the idea is the latest and perhaps one of the more ambitious attempts to capitalize on the access to capital provided by the ICO mechanism.

Adam Meister is an entrepreneur, self made. He is known for his voice in the crypto community and his views of the world. Being a minimalist isn't easy, but when you can the level of self discipline as Adam, it's just routine. The Bitcoin Meister, or Adam for short is absolutely the most frugal personality in the space. Using the internet to it's full potential and even pushing boundaries beyond borders, he uses the kindness of strangers to travel and couch surf. Being a somewhat, ok huge, bitcoin maximalist, it's impressive he's had guests on his show like Charlie Lee and Amanda B Johnson. As a fan of his show myself, I was excited to get to meet and know Adam as a person not just a personality. Next time, we will dig deeper into the crypto rabbithole.

In this episode we have David Perez. A friend of a friend that contacted Dee through Facebook. Yes, he was looking to make a buck; however, maybe just maybe Dee was able to convince him that there is more to the surface than a path to deep pockets.

Working for an exchange gives Maak a different POV of the industry, and I had to have him on to talk about it! Besides the trading, betting and tech support work Maak also does DIY mining from home. This makes for an awesome conversation, and you're in for a treat. Plus we hit the buzzword of the week "scams", so please join us and press PLAY!
