On this episode of BlockChannel, McKie, Dee, and Dr. Petty are joined by Dan Finlay from the Metamask team. Metamask is a chrome extension that enables you to access a variety of different ethereum related tokens in order to transact and interact with the web — with the additional capabilities of interfacing with the Ethereum public chain. Their plugin and service has exploded in popularity, and developers are using it to embed Ethereum related functionality into traditional webpages. These sorts of services are pivotal in bringing more adoption in the crypto space by simplifying interacting with these new complex networks of trust online; thankfully we picked Dan’s head accordingly and got the scoop on their vision and background. We also discuss ICOs, and potential alternative methods for raising that may be coming around the corner in the future to alleviate congestion on the network.

Coming back to the show THREEPEAT — its only been a month between appearances, but we were eager to get him back on. Jeremy Epstein is CEO of Never Stop Marketing which provides blockchain marketing and consulting. With 20+ years of international marketing experience it has led to speaking engagements in over 15 countries, working at Microsoft, led marketing at Sprinklr — basically when he talks you listen. All three hosts are here for the interview, which is rare, so tune in as we tackle, sales funnels, segwit, ICO's, and more!

Shortly after Ethereum launched, Taylor built MyEtherWallet.com with her partner because she wasn't confident with command-line. MyEtherWallet is a “do-it-yourself-&-secure-it-yourself” FREE Ethereum wallet that is extremely easy to use. So obviously, we gots ta talk about it. ICO Woes included. Also we talk about Tropic Thunder, and who can sing R&B better. It gets serious.

What?! Another Erik Voorhees podcast?!!!

In this, the sixty seventh episode of The Ether Review, we set out to understand Prism, Shapeshift’s new non-custodial synthetic asset built on the Ethereum network. In reviewing this episode I feel I was unsuccessful in achieving this. However, the peripheral conversation about Erik’s view of the space is extremely enlightening, especially writ large in his positioning of Shapeshift. The Bitcoin scaling debate, the future of digital assets, the financial world’s response — it’s all here.

Some of this interview was geared to fit Shapeshift’s messaging, not something you’ll hear on TER very often. None the less, it’s fun to hear such an astute thinker and communicator knock some soft ball questions out of the park.

This week the boys welcome back to the show and interview Erik Voorhees of the instant, trustless cryptocurrency exchange ShapeShift.io about their new venture, Prism, which is a trustless means of holding multiple assets via ShapeShift.io and its own Ethereum token. Also we talk about how a person brand new to crypto, how easy the process really is. Spoiler alert: It's not. Are there any real world solutions? Also we slam Ethereum Chamber scamming everyone and we talk about Sean Paul's (remember him?) accent during breakfast.

OK, here we are in June 2017 and it is TIME to start rethinking identity on the internet. The internet was built on principles of openness, freedom and decentralization, but the current configuration frequently falls short of these standards. Now, there is an open-source project is trying to address some of the fundamental problems with the modern web. This week we are ALL about snagging Muneeb Ali to chat about the freshly announced Blockstack browser, which changes the dynamic and brings the power back to the people.

Sup PABS?! Brandon Bradshaw, your normal everyday student at Missouri State University is your honorary onrampee this week. He is jetting toward a Computer information systems degree with a minor in insurance risk management and economics. So...it's safe to say he is interested in all things tech/business/political.
He is fun too! He likes to wake board, chill with the homies, and travel. Let's get to onrampin'!

SPHRE aims to sort through the tangles and knots that are clogging progress by identifying and addressing the issues at hand. It's been awhile since we talk about AirBitz, but our guest this week, CEO Daren Seymour, has partnered up with them. The partnership will allow AIR to benefit from the versatility of Edge Security, which is blockchain-agnostic to ensure intuitive and secure user experiences on both public and permissioned blockchains. Color us excited!

On this episode of BlockChannel, McKie is completely solo; he sits down with Stephen and Russel from REX. REX is seeking to cater to the real estate market, using Ethereum and smart contracts to connect home buyers, vendors, and agents from all over the world. Real estate listings and buying homes can be a fairly complex process; their project aims to simplify this process, from listings, to escrow, to closing. These gentleman believe the real estate industry is ripe for a product like theirs. We agree.

This week we take a quick look at ICO's and risk. For more on the topic, we bring in Nick Johnson from the Ethereum Foundation. His mission is to promote and support research, development and education to bring decentralized protocols and tools to the world that empower developers to produce next generation decentralized applications (dapps). We are all fairly language-agnostic, as long as it's sane. Strap in crypto geeks. Another week another hour!

This episode we recap on current events. For example; transaction fees, lightning network, Mark Sinclair and SCAMS. Satoshi, we have take off…There’s a lot of off topic comradery in this conversation but don’t be fooled, we drop some knowledge-bombs on you. KENN BOSAK IN THE HOUSE!

Coming back to the show -- its only been a month, but we were eager to get him back on, especially since Cello missed the first go around - Jeremy Epstein is CEO of Never Stop Marketing and with 20+ years of international marketing experience it it has led to speaking engagements in over 15 countries, working at Microsoft, led Marketing at Sprinklr -- basically when he talks you listen. I know I do. People don't believe what you tell them. They rarely believe what you show them. They often believe what their friends tell them. They always believe what they tell themselves. This is just part of it, but you get the gist.

Dee interviews his bestie, his bestie named Talon.  They get extra philosophical for getting philosophical's sake. Talon is obsessed with Satoshi Nakamoto.

First and foremost, Congratulations to Litecoin and Charlie Lee, our guest this week, on locking in Segregated Witness activation! In an era when blockchain upgrades have been defined by years of intellectual combat, a new milestone is set to offer a stark contrast to that narrative. If SegWit proves to be safe, it will put more pressure on bitcoin mining pools to adopt the change. Although it seems unlikely LTC will overtake BTC anytime soon, things will get very interesting moving forward. A successful SegWit activation for Litecoin could have an effect on the bitcoin network too, though. These are exciting times to be involved in cryptocurrency, that much is certain.

It saddens us how many people don't understand the difference between the maximum block size, and the actual block size. We dive into this and try not to get TOO excited about Litecoin. But it is hard not too. No guests this week, just a short fireside chat, PABs!

Reem El Seed is a self-starter driven by the pursuit of knowledge and a desire to shape solutions for a better tomorrow. Her explorative nature propels her to push the boundaries of discovery and uncover organic solutions to human-computer interactions. It was only natural this lead to her curiosity of cryptocurrency. So what exactly is it about the deep fascination with the correlation between human behavior and tech innovation that drives her? Well, Dee is going to get to the bottom of it, on another exciting episode!

Apr 20, 2017

On this episode of BlockChannel, McKie, Dee and Dr. Petty put on their hella skeptical caps, and sit down with Galen and Curtis from the Urbit project. Urbit claims/seeks to be a “virtual land in the clouds” that will enable siloed, encapsulated computing environments for users. They believe in a new type of digital freedom; and even the mere mention of freedom gets out American blood boiling with excitement 🇺🇸, so of course had to chat and get an in-depth breakdown into crazy new adventure they’re embarking on. Confused? We we’re, but we’re onboard now. Hopefully you will be too.

As an attorney, a teacher, and a smart contract enthusiast-Cynthia Gayton is the perfect guest to join Corey Petty and talk about bitcoin and blockchain technology, from a legal perspective. They discuss the current laws as well as speculate on the laws that could be introduced. These two are peas in a pod when it comes to bitcoin’s blockchain and the future of decentralizing everything.

On this episode of BlockChannel, McKie, Dee and Dr. Petty finally get a chance to have a chat with Jarrad Hope and Carl Bennetts of Status. After many reschedules due to their non-stop hustling the past few months since the announcement of their project — we got the scoop. We get an inside look into how Jarrad and Carl met, insights on the projects, and their vision for the platform in the future. Messaging applications are all the rage lately, and by embedding decentralization applications (DApps) into the heart of the experience, you get whole new type of platform — and we think that’s going to game changing for Ethereum.
